Richard Holmes is a travel, food and lifestyle writer based in Cape Town, South Africa. He’s a regular contributor to print, online and in-flight media worldwide, with bylines in the likes of Travel+Leisure, The Independent, The Guardian, Taste Magazine, Wanted, AFAR, BBC Travel, Skift.com, CNNgo.com, and many others.

A regular contributor to leading in-flight publications, Richard’s work has appeared in Highlife (British Airways), Oryx (Qatar Airways), Hemispheres (United), Sawubona (South African Airways), Silhouette (Air Seychelles) and Silverkris (Singapore Airlines), while recent book projects include work for the World Wildlife Fund.

Alongside editorial commissions, Richard also consults to leading brands in the wine, spirits, travel and hospitality industries, helping them to craft their customer-facing content and through-the-line corporate messaging.

Although he spends plenty of time at 35 000 feet, Cape Town is where Richard calls home. When he’s not jetting off on assignment, you’ll usually find unearthing a new foodie find in South Africa’s ‘Mother City’, or waxing up his surfboard for a session at his local break. If he could go anywhere in Africa on safari, the Okavango Delta would be top of his list.
